Lord Hunt of Kings Heath is a long-standing political champion of value-based procurement, having secured the ministerial commitment to its introduction as government policy for medical devices. Formerly the first ever Chief Executive of the NHS Confederation, he was elevated to the House of Lords in 1997 and has served as minister across Health, Justice, Energy and Net Zero. He is Patron of the Health Care Supplies Association, a former Member of the General Medical Council, and former President of the Royal Society for Public Health. He was awarded an OBE in 1993 for services to the NHS.
