A £26.1 million award from National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) enables pioneering research into medical advancements to continue apace in Leicester through the Biomedical Research Centre (BRC).
NIHR Biomedical Research Centres (BRCs) are collaborations between NHS organisations and universities. They bring together academics and clinicians to translate scientific discoveries into potential new treatments, diagnostics and technologies.
Led by our Director, Professor Melanie Davies MBE, our research here in Leicester focuses on six themes: Cardiovascular; Data Innovation for Multiple Long-Term health Conditions and Ethnic Health; Environment; Personalised Cancer Prevention and Treatment; Lifestyle; Respiratory and Infection.
The Institute for Precision Health is a core partner of the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre Leicester, and is an international centre of excellence in precision health, uncovering disease mechanisms, developing novel diagnostics and therapies and translating them for patient and societal benefit.
